Phase Contrast Microscope

Our practice uses phase contrast microscopy to determine the risk of periodontal disease. It allows us to look at live specimens without altering their natural characteristics. As calculus builds up on your teeth, your immune system begins to fight the battle of bacterial exposure. Bacteria gather in the pockets surrounding the tooth, causing the gum tissue to loosen and then inflammation to occur. Bleeding on probing and the loosening of the pockets indicates to the dental hygienist that inflammation is present. The loosening of the pockets is caused by the bacterial infection, which will lead to periodontal disease if not caught early and corrected.

Our dental hygienists will help patients to prevent further decay. Using a phase contrast microscope for periodontal detection is far more advanced than just the traditional probing, and can help the hygienist and dentist to diagnose a patient’s specific condition and develop an effective treatment plan. Using this inexpensive microbiological test allows the dental team to determine whether periodontal disease is present before attachment may be lost for good.

In the past, the only way to remove tarter from above and below the gum line was by scraping with a hand instrument. With the Cavitron Ultrasonic Cleaner, our hygienists are able to gently, and comfortably remove tarter with high frequency sound waves.

The Cavitron Ultrasonic cleaner is a safe, effective and painless alternative to traditional cleaning methods. The Cavitron vibrates at the speed of sound so you hardly feel any movement. This makes even a deep cleaning a more pleasant experience.

Intraoral Camera

The intraoral camera is a diagnostic dental tool allowing us to detect potential problems within the mouth, early on. The tiny intraoral camera takes pictures of your teeth, gums and the inside of your mouth then displays the images on a computer screen. Using the intraoral camera saves time and makes problems easily visible to both you and Dr. Boehm. The images from the intraoral camera enable you to view the areas with issues, so you are able to see and understand why treatment may be necessary. The accompanying software also provides clear and accurate data so that the best treatment options can be selected.

ClearCorrect™

ClearCorrect is a simple, easy way to straighten your teeth without the use of brackets and wires. ClearCorrect uses a series of clear, removable aligners that we custom make for you. Each aligner move your teeth a bit until you achieve the straight smile you were looking for.

ETPS Pain Therapy

ETPS is a FDA approved therapy that combines the principles of acupuncture and neurology with microcurrent stimulation.

Before the actual therapy begins we do an examination looking for any trigger points and nerve impingements. Trigger points are areas in the muscle that are sore when compressed and may be noted by a “knot” in the muscle.

Once trigger points are identified ETPS therapy is applied to those areas to release the muscle spasm.

Cranial Sacral Therapy

Cranial Sacral therapy uses gentle massage on the spine, neck, and skull to release restrictions in the cranialsacral system, thus improving the functioning of the central nervous system. CST complements the body’s natural healing process and is used as a preventive health measure. CST is effective for a variety of medical conditions associated with pain such as migraines, TMJ, neck and back problems and fibromyalgia.

Lymphatic Therapy

Lymphatic Therapy consists of a manual massage designed to assist in the drainage of the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is responsible for moving fluid throughout the body, moving toxins away from healthy cells and carrying germ-fighting materials to cells that are under attack. If the lymphatic system is damaged it could become blocked, leading to swelling of the body. During therapy, specific lymph nodes and points of the body are targeted with a rhythmic, gentle pumping massage to restore the natural flow of the lymphatic system.
